A new film by Award Winning Filmmaker Aja Vickers tells the story of up-and-coming Mixed Martial Arts fighter Will “The Brown Bomber” Santiago. It chronicles his journey from being a troubled teen locked in prison to competing against some of the best athletes in the world.
Houston, TX – February 12, 2018 – Vickers Films releases short film titled “The Brown Bomber”, an inspirational story about struggle, redemption, self-discover, and passion. The film starts off with Will “The Brown Bomber” Santiago giving a brief history into his background and how fighting is “in his blood.” The road to success has not been easy for Santiago, who spent nearly a decade in prison for his involvement in a fatal crime. In the film, he talks about his time in prison and what prompted him to make that final decision to turn his life around. Santiago says after he was released, Mixed Martial Arts is what helped him stay focused and on the right track. He hopes telling his story will inspire others.
“I kind of feel like we are meant for something in life.We are all meant to give in some way. The chance to be able to pick someone up, play a positive part in someone’s growth, and give someone hope that they can overcome anything in life is priceless to me,” Santiago says.
Originally from Lawrence, Massachusetts, Santiago has moved to Albuquerque, New Mexico to train with the best at the infamous Jackson Wink MMA Academy. He fights in two weight classes, 170 and 185. His professional record is 9 and 4 and all of them finished in the first round, 6 knockouts were under a minute.
Doing a sports film is something new for Aja Vickers. She says she’s wanted to shoot something like this for a very long time and when opportunity knocked, she answered the door.
“Seeing this finally come to fruition really means a lot to me. It’s a topic I’ve wanted to explore and now that I’ve had that chance, I really see myself doing a lot more sports related films in the future,” Vickers says.
This is not the first film done by Vickers. She was Producer and Directory of Photography for The Power of Words™: Making a Difference One Person at A Time. This short film was a Winner in the One-Reeler Short Film Competition for films under 12 minutes and was a collaboration between herself and Best Selling Author and Filmmaker Richard Tyler.
The entire film was shot within two hours time at Jackson Wink’s facility. Vickers directed the film, was the executive producer and KRQE Sports Director Van Tate helped produce the film.
Santiago says he has many plans for the future including acting, writing a book, and helping at-risk kids. His main goal is becoming the best athlete, reaching the highest stage he possibly can.

From politics to crime, sports to tornadoes–you name it, she’s shot it, reported on it or both.
After experiencing all aspects of broadcast news, Aja decided she wanted to start her own production company and began her journey to make it a reality. Aja honed her skills in the news industry by doing thousands of different types of stories and interviews and she coupled those skills with her knack for storytelling and an ability to capture the emotion of any genre.
