Photography can be so many things ranging from informative to artistic. It really just depends on your needs and what you’re going to use them for.  So let’s talk about it! Before the shoot

Some shoots are pretty cut and dry, and for those all I need is a time and location.  Others require more planning, which can be figured out once we will discuss what kind of project you’re looking to do. For those more involved shoots we talk about things such as concept, location, clothing,  props, makeup, hair, and come up with a general vibe or message you want to convey.  Photography can be very creative and the more creative it is, the more planning you’ll need.

During the shoot

Set up usually doesn’t take long for a lot of projects and in many instances we can just start shooting. Others may require lights or props to be set up before we begin. During our session hundreds or thousands of pictures are taken to insure we get the best possible shots.  Multiple angles are taken and sometimes with multiple lenses to get the most variety.

After the Shoot

Once those beautiful pictures have been taken they it’s time to make them really shine! We shoot in RAW format, which provides the best quality images. Those images are uploaded and saved. Then they are edited to enhance their natural beauty, converted to JPEGs and delivered electronically. Other formats such as TIFF’s and PNG’s are available as well.

Frequently Asked Questions

How long does a photo shoot take?

The average shoot takes about 2 to 3 hours. If someone’s a little shy it may take a little longer for them to warm up and get comfortable in front of the camera, which will add some time. Other things, such as cars, may require a little more prep time to get them looking their best on camera. It all depends on what we’re taking pictures of.

What about hair and makeup?

That’s entirely up to you. If you want to come au natural and look like you normally do that’s fine. If you want hair and makeup we do have those services available or if you have a makeup artist that you’re familiar with you can bring them along too. Hair and makeup done at the location will add significant time to the shoot.

How many pictures will I receive?

That really depends on the subject. If it’s a person I may only send a handful of the absolute best shots. If it’s a home I typically send between 30 to 100 shots depending on how large the home is.  It varies greatly. You can request to have all the unedited files sent to you and if you find one (or some) that you want edited I can do that for an added fee.
